Live retrospective from this seminal Los Angeles band led by the ubquitously named tranvestite - and rock journalist - Falling James. Tracks 1 through 12 chronicle a set from October, 2002, at KXLU on the campus of Loyola Marymount in Westchester, Los Angeles, and features the 'Trains caught in a Cramps/T.S.O.L. vibe, sometimes channeling Sky Saxon and Jim Morrison and sometimes slipping into Ramones adoration ("Kids Wanna Know") or a Heartbreaker lament that turns into an epic Beatles jag ("Dude The Cat/Hey Jude"). "Dumb As A Crayon" is pure psyche rock guitar wankery. This disc offers a snapshot into a time long since forgotten. A time when alternative bands made alternative music without the help of alternative labels or alternative radio. A true classic. Everyone needs a Leaving Trains record in their collection, so if you don't have one, Amplified Pillows is a good place to start.
