AMPLIFIED PILLOWS, the Leaving Trains' first-ever live album, has 73 minutes of music from a 2002 radio broadcast and an '02 L.A. club appearance, plus bonus tracks from concerts in 1989 in Holland and 1987 in Philly. Rarities include the previously unreleased election anthem "We Don't Have a Vote" and the Trains' version of Falling James' Giant Sand collaboration "The Doors." With celestially glamorous cover art by Winston Smith.

EMOTIONAL LEGS, the most recent Leaving Trains studio CD, brims with an hour's worth of new tunes, hidden tracks and several uniquely Trains-mogrified covers of songs by Cheap Trick, Eddie & the Subtitles and Black Sabbath. Originals include Dennis Carlin's bratty "Judy Don't Mind," the power ballad "Dumb as a Crayon" (later included on the Freaks and Geeks soundtrack CD), the lovelorn "My Lost Danielle" and the war-torn "Use Your Own Weapons Against You." Love & war & power chords.

Keats The landmark 1981 compilation album KEATS RIDES A HARLEY, with the debut recordings of such then-unknown bands as The Gun Club, 100 Flowers, Meat Puppets and The Leaving Trains, was released for the first time on CD in 2005 (with a plethora of bonus tracks, including rare necessities by The Earwigs, S Squad, Toxic Shock, Rik L. Rik, Human Hands, Tunneltones and The Urinals). The Leaving Trains' two contributions to KEATS, "Virginia City" and "Cigarette Motel," were produced by Vitus Matare (The Last, Trotsky Icepick) and differ from the versions that were later released on the Trains' first two full-length albums. The expanded KEATS CD includes extensive liner notes by Falling James and most of the bands. Contact Happy Squid Records.

And while several of the Leaving Trains' early albums are out of print, others are available on Amazon.com and even Ebay.com. In Los Angeles, you can usually find L-Trains CDs in the flesh at Amoeba Music and Head Line Records in Hollywood.
